#ThrowBackThursday: Late 19th Century Photos of Plymouth

The Official Website of the
Plymouth 400
Commemoration

This week, the New York Public Library released more than 180,000 digitized photographs, postcards, maps and other items in the public domain from its special collections, among them photos of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island, Alexander Hamilton’s papers, and some fascinating late-nineteenth century photos of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Here’s just a selection of the fifty or so photos in the collection, which includes shots of Burial Hill, the National Monument to the Forefathers (during construction!), and Henry Sargeant’s “Landing of the Pilgrims” painting in Pilgrim Hall (where it can still be seen- all cleaned up- today).

You can view all the digital photos here.
