This Friday, August 1, marks the 125th anniversary of the National Monument to the Forefathers in Plymouth, and our town is celebrating in a big way.
Plymouth 400 is hosting our second annual Forefathers Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 2 from 12-4PM at “Forefathers Monument,” as it’s commonly referred to by locals.

Join us and see performances by Plymouth North High School’s a cappella ensemble Northern Lights, New England bluegrass band Four Bridges, the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers, and more!
You’ll also learn see live reenactments of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the 1st Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Cavalry, and hear the story of Squanto from Timothy Turner of Plymouth Native Tours. Local historians Dr. Paul Jehle, Executive Director of Plymouth Rock Foundation and Leo Martin, Educational Director and tour guide of the Jenney Museum, will be giving free tours of Forefathers Monument throughout the day.
Bramhall’s Country Store, Wicked Smokin’ BBQ, Perry’s Last Stand, and other local vendors will be serving up treats for the whole family at the event, so bring your appetite!
We’re not the only ones celebrating this “monumental milestone!” Plymouth Rock Foundation is sponsoring events beginning with a screening of the film Monumental on Thursday July 31 at Memorial Hall. There will also be performances of “The Venture of 1620” by The Academy of Arts at Memorial Hall on Friday and Saturday nights, and a “Celebrate Faith” ceremony at Forefathers Monument on August 2 from 8AM-12PM.
