The Pilgrim Canticle is the retelling of the Pilgrim story using both narrative description and musical presentations of selected religious anthems emphasizing the themes mentioned in the narratives.
There will also be a presentation of a Commemorative Anthem, commissioned by The Church of the Pilgrimage. This anthem will be composed by Carson Cooman, Composer in Residence at Memorial Church, Harvard University. The text of the anthem will be from William Bradford’s Of Plimoth Plantation:
“Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing and gives being to all things that are; and as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation; let the glorious name of Jehovah have all praise.”
In addition to the Church of the Pilgrimage choir, choir members from other area churches will be invited to sing.
