We are officially 57 days away from the day that bids close on the Plymouth 400 license plate auction!
But what's the significance of 57?
It's the year that Mayflower II came to America! The full-scale replica of the ship that carried the Pilgrims on that historic journey in 1620 was the brainchild of Englishman Warwick Charlton, who wanted to honor the deep connection between England and America and thank our nation for our efforts during World War II.
This 106-foot four-mast vessel is a symbol of America's immigrant beginnings and a true landmark in Plymouth. Her arrival in 1957 was met with much fanfare, as you can see in the clip below, and we're sure that when she returns to Plymouth after her restoration is completed at Mystic Seaport, she'll be met with cheering crowds once again! You can own a piece of this history by bidding on Plymouth 400 license plate #57 OR #195 during our license plate auction beginning on April 19!
