Plymouth 400 will hold a free Forefathers Family Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 3 (the rain date is Aug. 4), at the Forefathers Monument, located at 70 Allerton St.
Celebrate events from 150 years ago, when Abraham Lincoln delivered his Thanksgiving Proclamation and personally contributed to the Forefathers Monument, overlooking Plymouth Harbor.
Take a picnic, or buy sausages and lemonade, listen to great music, learn about the Monument from historians, enjoy children’s dance performances, play fun family games, hear great poetry and readings from the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address, participate in Civil War reenactments with horses, muskets and tales of great feats and great woes.
Later, shift to Plimoth Plantation and see the movie Lincoln, starring Daniel Day Lewis, with two free shows, at 5 and 8 p.m. (The movie will be shown Saturday even if the weather delays the Forefathers Monument event till Sunday.)
