Plymouth, MA— Plymouth 400, Inc. Executive Director Michele Pecoraro is in the United Kingdom this week for meetings with key government officials including the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, tourism entities, and other international partners in the Plymouth 400 anniversary which will commemorate the Mayflower voyage and founding of Plymouth Colony, events that significantly shaped the building of America. The goal of this visit is to solidify the historic relationship between the United States and United Kingdom who have traditionally had an alliance of mutual respect and trust.
On Monday, September 21st, Pecoraro visited the US Embassy in London where she met with embassy representatives in public and cultural affairs to discuss collaborative efforts between the US and UK in planning and executing events and programs commemorating the Plymouth 400 anniversary. She also visited the Brand USA headquarters to discuss new tourism product, marketing campaigns, and international itineraries, as enhancing tourism and economic development are two of the Primary Goals of the Plymouth 400 Commemoration.
Pecoraro will be joined in Plymouth, UK from September 22nd-24th by Anita Walker, Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, for meetings with the United States Ambassador to the UK, higher educational institutions like Plymouth University and City College Plymouth, cultural and tourism organizations, and the organizers of 400th anniversary events in Southwestern England, Mayflower 400.
