#ThrowBackThursday: First Parish Church
Recognize this? It’s the First Parish Church in Plymouth, located in Town Square.
This particular building, also known as The National Memorial Pilgrim Church, was dedicated in 1899. However, the First Parish is the actually oldest continuous church in the country. The church can trace its roots back to England in 1606, when some of those in opposition to the Church of England met under the leadership of John Robinson, who later traveled to Plymouth on the Mayflower and helped to establish First Parish in the New World.
